About Barry

Originally from Wilmette, Illinois, Barry graduated from the University of Kansas in the late 80s and started working for Perl in 1997. How does a guy with horrible math scores on his ACTs become one of the country's most successful mortgage brokers? Barry's drive and motivation came from his first home buying experience. "When I bought my first home I was clueless, and the loan officer I worked with never lifted a finger to help me or answer any questions. Being on the other side of that negative experience drives me to make sure my clients feel the exact opposite. I'll sometimes tell my clients up front that I will be holding their hand from start to finish, whether they like it or not."

Today in Economic History: It was on this date in 1994 when Sony wrote off their underperforming movie production studio Columbia. They purchased Columbia to help them corner all sides of the movie entertainment market but movies flopped big-time under Sony’s watch and they eventually cut ties with the movie studio.

Today in Economic History: It was on this date in 1903 when the Dow dropped to 42.15. The stocks of industrial companies dropped to single digits and a financial crisis ensued for the rest of the year. This drop in the market was later coined the “Rich Man’s Panic.” FYI - I suffer from what’s called Poor Man’s PanicEvery day.

Every time a website makes me accept their cookies I head straight to the pantry to eat a row of Oreos. It’s triggers like that which make me think I will not be successful on my new diet. But I’m trying, Mortgage Fans. (*side note: Did you know Cookie Monster has his own Twitter account) For now, though, it’s time to start this blog with some cookie quotes -

Today in Economic History: After several unsuccessful business attempts, it was on this day in 1858 when Roland Macy founded his own department store called Roland’s. Just kidding – Macy’s – which is the biggest department store in the country by volume. I always love watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade to see how long the announcers can keep it interesting. Trying this year to break last year’s record of 54 seconds. In the meantime here are some fun facts about the parade

A homeowner with a child on his lap calculating whether to buy a new home or refinance his home loan

Owning a home is fun and fulfilling!

What’s not to love about having a space that is entirely yours? You can paint your bathroom fuchsia, have hardwood in the master, put up a wild Mosaic in the kitchen, install a smart thermostat, you name it. After all, it’s your home!

Equally enjoyable are the other personal and financial advantages of being a homeowner: security and stability, equity and wealth building, and more! I’m here to help you get the most from your home financing — whether you’re buying your first home, moving up or downsizing to match your lifestyle, or refinancing your current mortgage.

Helping your home financing process go smoothly.

  • There are some major milestones on your road to home financing. As your loan officer, I’ll be with you every step of the way to make sure you understand each one and get through them quickly.

  • How much will your mortgage payment be? How much can you save if you refinance? Is it better to buy than rent? Use these online calculators to crunch the numbers and see for yourself.

  • I separate myself from other lenders by offering a broader selection of home financing options — from loans for first-time homebuyers to refinance programs for accessing your home’s equity.

  • Before you explore the endless options of home financing, some preparation is in order. Planning ahead for your mortgage is the key to an easier and more successful home financing process.
