Backyard Games for Family Fun This Summer!

Summer is here, which means it’s time to enjoy the outdoors. Here are some of Team Montani’s favorite games to play in the yard with family and friends!

The temperature is rising, ice cream trucks are jingling, and sweet tea is ready for sipping! Summer is here, which means it’s time to enjoy the outdoors. Here are some of Team Montani’s favorite games to play in the yard with family and friends!

Glow-in-the-Dark Bowling

This is the perfect activity for indoors and out! Create your set using 10 clear water bottles, 10 glow sticks, and a ball. Fill the bottles 3/4 of the way with water, crack the glow sticks, and drop one into each bottle. Tightly close the lids and throw your first strike! Enjoy bowling in the yard during a pleasant evening or beat the heat playing in a dark hallway.

Lawn Twister

Twister is known to get people laughing! To take this game outside, grab a pizza box and some washable spray paint to create your Lawn Twister board. Cut a 10-inch circle out of the box and use it as a stencil to paint circles on the ground. Then get to stretching and smiling with loved ones!

Bocce

An Italian classic first played in ancient Rome, this is a game family and friends of all ages will want to play match after match! To play, use one small ball and several larger balls differing in color. Throw the small ball (called a jack or bullet), then take turns trying to land the other balls closest to it to win points. Touch the bullet to win this summer!

Capture the Flag

Another classic you can enjoy with only a few supplies required. Mark two bases and place flags for each team. Then try to bring the opposing team’s flag back to your base without being touched! With its simple rules first published in 1908, it’s no surprise the game remains a favorite today.

Water Balloon Dodgeball

The best way to stay cool! Start with a large supply of balloons, fill them up with water, and start dodging!
