It’s hard to believe that we’re already two full months into 2022. March 1st means 16.67% of the year is already over. As the seasons begin to shift from winter to spring, our focus often shifts from New Year’s resolutions to spring cleaning. We’re two months into a new year, a clean plate, and a fresh start – but what if you haven’t done anything related to your New Year’s resolutions yet? Suddenly that clean slate feels like a stressful to-do list.

At Team Montani, we’re taught our goals should be S.M.A.R.T: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timely. Far too often, people abandon goals because they fall behind and feel it’s too tough to play the proverbial “catch-up game” while achieving what they originally intended. Some will get back on track, but others won’t. So how do we prevent issues like this from becoming commonplace?

The answer is simple: start anywhere. Make some kind of progress. If you want to run a marathon, start with a mile. If you want to get in shape, get that first gym session on the calendar. All it takes is a small spark to start a fire.

If you haven’t made progress on your New Year’s resolutions, please don’t be alarmed. Even though we’re roughly 17% into 2022, there’s still 83% left – and there’s so much out there to achieve! As the saying goes, “The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” Do not be afraid to take that first step. Sooner or later, small steps become giant leaps. Your goals are still very achievable, you just need to start somewhere.
