CLEVELAND, May 27, 2022 — As part of its National Military Appreciation Month observances, CrossCountry Mortgage (CCM) is pleased to name retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Rick Sullivan of Green, Ohio, as the winner of the Home for a Hero Sweepstakes.

As part of the joint sweepstakes between CCM and Fox 8, Rick won $10,000 to use toward his housing costs. Rick served in the Army for 26 years after starting his Military career at Kent State University. He retired in 2008.

Alicia Gauer, senior vice president of Corporate Communications for CCM, surprised Rick with the Home for a Hero announcement live on New Day Cleveland. “We’re so thankful for Rick’s service and honored to have this opportunity to give back. It’s because of the selfless service of individuals like Rick that the American dream of homeownership is possible, and for that we are so very grateful.”

“I’m so grateful for this opportunity. This is probably one of the best things that’s ever happened to me,” said Rick after learning about his prize. “I thought I was just here to talk about what I’ve done and my experience, and then the team sneaks up behind me with a big check. Huge surprise!”

Eight additional Northeast Ohio-based Active-Duty Military Members or Veterans are also runner-up winners in the Home for a Hero Sweepstakes. They were randomly selected to each receive $500.

  • U.S. Army Veteran Orlando Jones, Oberlin
  • U.S. Marine Corps Veteran Bobby Colleran, North Ridgeville
  • U.S. Army Veteran Brandon Klopfenstein, Wadsworth
  • The United States Army Airborne Veteran Jack Linx, Twinsburg

  • Captain Matt Convery / Judge Advocate, United States Army, Kirtland
  • Retired Ohio Army National Guard Captain Douglas Davidson, Kirtland

In addition to employing nearly 250 Veterans and Active-Duty Service Members, as well as offering VA loans and products as part of its lending portfolio, CCM also supports Military Members year-round through a variety of efforts. This includes donating tickets to professional sports games to enable members of the Military to enjoy a day with their loved ones, donations to local schools in honor of Service Members, sports ticket donations to Servicemen and women and supporting Military-minded events, including the Armed Forces Bowl.
