I’ll be with you every step of the way
Hello! I’m Chris Fielding, your senior loan officer here at the Rockville, MD branch of America’s #1 Retail Mortgage Lender. When people ask me what I do for a living, I tell them that I’m in the happiness business!
That’s because I help clients make their dreams come true. With over 30 years in the mortgage business and a master’s certificate in Certified Financial Planning from Georgetown University, I provide the questions borrowers need to ask themselves to determine how to best integrate their mortgage into their finances.
Every loan needs to address each client’s unique goals, circumstances, and priorities, so we look to strike a balance among competing financial priorities. Whether it’s a conventional, jumbo, government or alternative documentation loan for self-employed borrowers, your personalized mortgage solution will meet your goals now and into the future.
If you are looking to buy, build or refinance, I look forward to helping you from pre-approval to closing and beyond.

To determine how much home you can afford, you’ll want to assess your financial situation. A general guideline is to spend no more than 28% of your gross monthly income on housing costs and 36% on total debt.

A good credit score typically starts at 620 for conventional loans, while FHA and VA loans may accept scores as low as 500, though higher scores offer better terms. A strong credit score can help you secure lower interest rates, saving you significant money over the life of a home loan.

A Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC) is a revolving line of credit that allows homeowners to borrow against the equity in their home. HELOCs function like a credit card, giving access to funds up to a set limit, which can be used for expenses like renovations or debt consolidation. You only pay interest on the amount you borrow, and the repayment terms typically include a draw period followed by a repayment period.
